INTERFERENCE OVER YOUR 1NT OPENINGSSAYC. If the next player doubles, your system is "on" (responses mean
the same as if he had passed).
SSS. If the next player doubles, you'll seldom have hands good enough to seek game. You'll want to bail out at the 2-level far more often. Forget business redoubles and Stayman: you don't need
them. Keep Jacoby transfers, but add the redouble as a transfer to 2C, and 2C as a transfer to 2D: you'll be much safer with the doubler leading from his strong hand than with the doubler's partner leading through your partner's
strong hand.
SAYC. If the next player bids over your 1NT, every response is natural (forcing only if a jump or three of a major) except for a bid in the opponent's suit, which serves as Stayman.
SSS. Yes, you need natural
low-level bids to be able to compete in any suit, but you may want to add Texas Transfers (4D to 4H, 4H to 4S) if the overcall is 3C or lower.
SAYC. If fourth hand doubles a Stayman 2C, opener may ignore the double and make his
normal reply, pass to show four clubs, or redouble to show five clubs (or four strong ones). If fourth hand doubles a Jacoby
Transfer, opener may ignore the double and make his normal bid, redouble with strength in the doubled
suit, or pass with poor support for responder's major.
SSS. That's almost right, but there's another reason opener may want to pass a double of a transfer bid: he may want the doubler to be on lead with a weak holding in the
doubled suit. So his pass does not show poor
support for responder's suit. The Stayman responder, if unwilling to play 2C doubled or redoubled, continues as he would over a 2D reply (his own 2D bid shows five diamonds and a weak
hand) but can also bid 3C to repeat his request for a 4-card major. The transfer responder, if unwilling to play the doubled contract (or redouble), continues as he would over a simple accept of his transfer, but if he bids his
long suit without jumping, he shows a weak hand and wants to play there. Responder can also rebid the doubled suit as a repeat transfer to his real suit with game-invitational or better values.
SAYC. If fourth hand overcalls a
Stayman or Jacoby response, penalty
doubles apply. Opener can bid at the 3-level only if he has good support for a Jacoby Transfer bidder's suit.
SSS. If fourth hand overcalls a Stayman 2C, any rebid by responder implies a
4-card major, but responder can also "cue-bid" overcaller's suit to repeat the request for opener to bid a 4-card major.
