In real tournament bridge, your partner needs to alert your bid, but it is common practice in online bridge games to self-alert your bid with an explanation to the opponents.

Write the explanation of your self-alert in the text line of the bidding box

and click "Bid&Alert"
the message will now show to both opponents and to the spectators.

Online you should Self Alert your bids and query the bidder.

To do this, click at the table drop box and select alert and type explanation. This message will be displayed to both opponents and the spectators.

Note that alerted explanations are the only text that will display to both opponents and spectators. Talking to either or both opponents is private messages.

Alert all your artificial and conventional bids, direct cuebids, jump shifts up to 4 NT and please announce the range of your NT openings.
